Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez says he will try to buy this month.

Martinez is keen to strengthen his squad during the January market.

"The amount of recruiting will depend on many aspects, but we are looking to strengthen in all areas of the field," Martinez told the Wigan Evening Post.

"Possibilities always present themselves in January - that is the nature of the transfer window.

"It is never the easiest time of year to find solutions to your problems, because obviously we are halfway through the season.

"But we will carry on working as hard as we possibly can to make sure we strengthen the squad to take Wigan Athletic forward to the next level.

"I can guarantee that, whatever happens, we will end January with a stronger squad of players than we had at the beginning of the month. And that's what you have to do in every window."
