Wigan boss Martinez confident Rodallega not unsettled by Liverpool, Arsenal talk

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is confident Hugo Rodallega won't be unsettled by transfer speculation linking him with Arsenal and Liverpool.

Martinez has never hidden the fact that he would not stand in the way of any of his players moving on to bigger clubs - as long as the deal was right for Latics.

He told the Wigan Evening Post: "I can guarantee you that if a player picks up a paper and sees a big club is following him, it is something that will boost him and can only help him perform well.

"When you have the right characters, those things are positives, the players know what is required on a daily basis.

"I think there are two things that are very clear.

"Firstly, the way we recruit as a team is vital. Secondly, when our players attract interest from other clubs, it shows we are doing something right. I have said before that Wigan Athletic do not have to sell players for financial reasons or to balance the books.

"The only reason we will sell players is for footballing reasons.

"I can guarantee we don't want to lose our better players, but if that is the case then it will be to our benefit."
