Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce is desperate for a positive festive programme.

After the Newcastle clash on Boxing Day they will face Aston Villa.

Bruce said: "Four or five weeks ago we looked dead and buried but we have given ourselves a lifeline and are within striking distance of the sides above us.

"I'd take four points out for those next two games. I always knew this was going to be a hard job."
