Whyte allays fears Rangers administration fears

Craig Whyte has made it vehemently clear to Rangers fans that the club will at no point go in to administration.

The Glasgow giants are currently experiencing a crippling financial situation with Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) entering a dispute with the club regarding tax owed.

A £2.8million bill has not been paid relating to staff payments made between 1999 and 2003 and an ongoing tax dispute, to be resolved in November, could cost the club over £45million.

But Whyte, who took over the Scottish champions from Sir David Murray in May and inherited an £18million debt to Lloyds bank, has assured Rangers fans that everything will be fine.

"Rangers will always be there and playing at Ibrox," said Whyte."They will be there long after I'm dead and buried.

"The press we have received over the last week has been horrendous but we are in a better position than we were a year ago.

"Lloyds debt has been paid off and we are in control of our own destiny. We accept that there are challenges ahead.

"There are other issues but everyone is aware of them and we are working our way through them but as I say, the club is in a better position than we were a year ago.

"It is pointless going into these sort of questions now until we know the outcome of any particular case but there is a plan to deal with it and that's where we are. There is a plan for dealing with a worse case scenario. There always was, we were always aware of the worst case scenario and there was a plan for dealing with it.

"Obviously we are looking at all the financial aspects of the club on a continual basis. We are looking at the balance sheet, we are looking at ways to restructure the business, with regard to cost savings, the HMRC case and what have you. But I'm not going to get into it at the moment, what form that might take."
