WHOOPS! Maddison scrambles to delete 'I hate Spurs' social media posts

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison has hastily sought to delete past tweets critical of Tottenham.

Maddison is on the brink of joining Spurs after Leicester accepted a £40m offer. The midfielder has also agreed personal terms worth £170,000-a-week.

Fans online have started digging out old social media posts from Maddison slamming Tottenham and their former players. The messages were made when Maddison was barely a teenager.

In the first tweet, from November 17, 2012, Maddison wrote: "I hate Gareth Bale with a passion, calm down you monkey, [Jack] Wilshere is 10x better than you chimpanzee."

And in another, from March 10, 2013, Maddison posted: "Hope Luis Suarez destroys Tottenham today, don't like Spurs! Especially that monkey everyone's on about!"

Maddison was a trainee with Coventry City at the time. However, now on his Twitter account all posts before December 2019 cannot be seen.
