White? Bowden? Five Tottenham youngsters poised to breakthrough under Conte

While Spurs enjoyed a fruitful campaign last term, the club's board has now tasked Antonio Conte with the responsibility of delivering silverware to the club - something his predecessors Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino failed to do.

In order to secure a trophy for Spurs this season, Conte will need a highly-driven squad - one filled with the right balance of youth and experience.

As things stand, Conte already has the youth aspect of that equation covered as his side boasts a slew of talented young players all of whom have the potential to break into the first team.

Here's a look at five of them:

Oliver Skipp

Oliver Skipp joined the Tottenham Academy in 2013 and has impressed his coaches at the youth and first-team levels ever since.

He went on loan to Norwich City for the 2020/2021 season, where he helped them secure the Championship title and Premier League promotion.

His inclusion in the 2021 PFA Championship Team of the Season capped off his hugely successful loan spell while also making him difficult for Conte to ignore.

Skipp is known for his proficiency in breaking up play and his ability to read the opponent's passes. His youth team coach once remarked that he plays with much experience for an under-21 player.

Since he returned in 2021, Skipp has featured 23 times for Spurs, with 18 of those appearances coming in the Premier League under Conte.

And with the imminent departure of Harry Winks, there would be boots for him to fill in Spurs' midfield.

Dane Scarlett

Tipped as the long-term successor to Harry Kane at Spurs, Dane Scarlett is a teenager with vast potential to fulfill. The 18-year-old has been lethal in front of the goal for Spurs' under-18 side and can make the more permanent transition into the first-team squad this season.

Scarlett earned the praise of Jose Mourinho during his time at Spurs as the legendary manager gave him his first and, to date, only Premier League appearance.

Spurs' inability to sign a backup striker during the summer window could benefit Scarlett and his dream of regular first-team appearances.

Jamie Bowden

Since joining the Spurs Academy in 2008, at the age of six, Jamie Bowden has shown signs of a promising professional football career.

The Irish midfielder is yet to make a senior appearance for Spurs, but that may change this season with Spurs lacking the midfield depth they require.

Bowden is known for his passing and ability to make good runs into the opponent's box. These qualities were on show during his loan spell at Oldham Athletic, where he produced five-goal contributions in 21 appearances.

The midfielder would surely hope to impress Conte during pre-season to earn his first-team opportunities.

Ryan Sessegnon

Known as the youngest goalscorer in Championship history and the first 2000s-born player to score a goal in professional English football, Sessegnon burst onto the professional football scene with Fulham in 2016. Not long after, in 2019, he made a move to Spurs in a deal worth 27 million euros.

Sessegnon had a successful loan spell in the German Bundesliga with Hoffenheim in the 2020/2021 season and was voted Player of the Month for November before returning to Spurs last season.

Exceptionally versatile, Sessegnon can play as a fullback, wingback, or winger. The 22-year-old's electrifying pace, strength, and ability to make crucial interceptions could see him thrive next season in Conte's wingback system.

After getting regular appearances at the end of last season, the feeling around Spurs and their supporters is that Sessegnon is ready for regular first-team action that would see him compete with Sergio Reguilon at the left-wingback position.

Harvey White

Another midfielder hoping to benefit from Spurs' deficiency in the midfield is Harvey White. The 20-year-old English player made his debut for Spurs in a 2020 Europa League match against Ludogorets Razgrad.

Harvey White has been a top performer for Spurs' youth ranks in the Premier League 2. He scored three goals and provided six assists during the 2020/2021 season before embarking on a loan spell at Portsmouth in January 2021.

When he returned, he continued his fine PL2 form, scoring five goals and producing four assists in just 18 appearances last season.

His dynamism and eye for goal could just be the missing piece in Spurs' midfield this season.
