West Ham striker Craig Bellamy has said he is surprised to have been named as the Welsh footballer of the year.
The former Liverpool striker was honoured at an awards ceremony dinner in Cardiff on Monday night but he says he was shocked to land the prize.
"I would like to thank the media and others who voted for me," he told the club's website.
"To be honest, it was a bit weird when I found out I had won. In my opinion I have had better years and not won it, and I feel like I had an average year this time.
"But that's the way it works sometimes."
