West Ham are lining up a move for Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater.
The Mirror says Manuel Pellegrini is ready to join the chase for Drinkwater with West Ham still keen to reinforce in midfield.
The Irons also want to beef up their attack with Porto's 23-goal marksman Moussa Marega.
West Ham have so far enjoyed a successful build up to the new campaign after spending £108million to transform the side that battled relegation last season.
But Pellegrini and Director of Football Mario Husillos still fear the squad is short in midfield and up front.
Manuel Lanzini remains on the long term injury list while the club are still willing to listen to offers for Cheikou Kouyate with Crystal Palace interested.
