West Ham successful with Kouyate red card appeal

West Ham have appealed successfully against Cheikhou Kouyate's red card picked up in the 5-1 FA Cup win over Blackburn Rovers.

Referee Jonathan Moss sent the Hammers midfielder off for a foul which he decided had denied Blackburn's Adam Henley a clear goalscoring opportunity in the 75th minute.

A statement on the Football Association website said: "Cheikhou Kouyate's one-match suspension for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity has been withdrawn with immediate effect following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today [Tuesday, February 23, 2016].

"West Ham United's claim of wrongful dismissal in relation to their Emirates FA Cup fifth round proper tie against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday 21 February 2016 was upheld."
