The Football Association has confirmed that West Ham United's Adrian has had his red card appeal upheld.
The Spanish goalkeeper was sent off in the 61st minute of the Hammers' 0-0 draw at Southampton on Wednesday night when he attempted to turn Sadio Mane before handling outside the area.
Referee Craig Pawson brandished a straight red which would have seen Adrian miss one match but an Independent Regulatory Committee has upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal meaning the 28-year old will be free to take his place in Sam Allardyce's squad for the February 22 clash with Tottenham.
Of the initial red card decision, Allardyce told the club's official website that he did not agree with Pawson's call.
"I think not only was he fouled, but also there is a question about whether it was a goalscoring opportunity or not," said the Upton Park boss.
"As far as I'm concerned, it is a handball but you don't get sent off for just a handball, only if it were denying a goalscoring opportunity, which we don't think it was."
