West Ham are rivaling Liverpool for Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi.

El Desmarque says Reds boss Jurgen Klopp wants to bolster his defence this summer with Mandi.

The German, though, may have competition from West Ham.

David Moyes' side have “asked about the player" as the east London side look to build on their squad having escaped the relegation battle.

And the club have been following Mandi since March this year, which could give them an advantage in their pursuit of the defender.

The Algerian is seen at Liverpool as a replacement for Dejan Lovren, who left Anfield for Zenit St. Petersburg earlier this month.
