West Ham United must go to £6 million to land Reading fullback Nicky Shorey.

The Hammers had an official £5m bid rejected by Reading on Monday but they are determined to sign the England left-back.

More talks are planned this week with Curbs hoping to get Shorey, 26, before the transfer window closes on Friday - in time for Saturday's encounter with the Royals at the Madejski Stadium.
