West Ham United goalkeeper great Phil Parkes is backing Robert Green to become England's outright No1.

Parkes told WHUTV: "Robert has proved he is the best around. He is playing well and has confidence. Most importantly the defence has confidence in him.

"Now he has got he spot it is up to the others to take it away from him. He has to be careful of course and make sure he doesn't do any silly mistakes. Fabio Capello is the kind of manager who will keep him in there if he is playing well, he will stick with him."
