West Ham United legend Tony Cottee is convinced their football will be more eye-catching under Sam Allardyce this season.
Cottee - who scored 116 goals in two spells at the club - believes it will be different among the elite of the Prem.
"I remember, a year ago, that myself, Tony Gale and Alan Devonshire had dinner with Sam down at Canary Wharf and we told him what the fans expect," revealed Cottee to the Sunday Mirror.
"The problem was that, in the Championship, there are so many games that it just isn't possible to play open attacking football all the time. The main thing is to get out of that division - and Sam did that.
"I also think the saying about reputations being easy to get and hard to lose is relevant. At Bolton, for instance, he had Youri Djorkaeff and Jay-Jay Okocha. How can you play long ball with players like that?
"West Ham fans want to see the ball passed around and they felt they did not see enough of that last season.
"West Ham's home form last season wasn't great, but they were THE team to beat in the Championship.
"Teams came to Upton Park and just sat back. It was frustrating. But teams like Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea won't do that, so games will be more open."
