West Ham great Dicks: About time Neill showed some loyalty

Former West Ham defender Julian Dicks believes it is time Lucas Neill showed some loyalty to the club.

Former West Ham defender Julian Dicks believes it is time Lucas Neill showed some loyalty to the club.

The 41-year old says that the Australian international needs to take a reality check as he continues to hold out for an improved offer from the cash-strapped club.

"Is it me, or am I missing something here?" Dicks said.

"He's 31. Hardly in his prime, but he does a job at right back. I am told he was offered a two or three-year deal with the Hammers on about ($80,000) a week.

"The word is that he was on ($150,000) a week and was obviously unhappy at the reduced wages. But, come on, ($80,000) a week.

"It's time he showed the club a little loyalty. I can understand every player must look out for himself . . . but ($80,000) a week for the next couple of years ain't bad, is it? Mr Neill needs to get a reality check.”

Neill has reportedly been considering offers from the Hammers as well as Sunderland and Turkish club Galatasaray.
