West Ham defender Zouma charged with animal welfare offences

West Ham United star Kurt Zouma has been charged with three offences under the Animal Welfare Act.

The French centre-back is set to appear at Thams Magistrates' Court on Tuesday for his first hearing.

Zouma is charged alongside his brother, Yoan Zouma, who allegedly filmed an incident when Kurt was committing offences against his cat.

The defender faces two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, along with not taking reasonable steps to protect the animal from pain, suffering, injury or disease.

The two cats that were under Zouma's care are currently with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA).
