West Ham chief Gold: We still owe Sheffield Utd

West Ham United owners have vowed to spend big to be sure of their Premier League safety next season.

David Gold and co-owner David Sullivan, who put £35m into the club last term, also plan to attack the Hammers' £80m debt, as well as offering new deals to key players including goal hero Carlton Cole and keeper Robert Green.

"We still owe Sheffield United, ex-players, ex-managers and we are committed to paying these debts," Gold said. "But we also don't want to lose any of our good players."
