West Ham chief Gold demands FA end foreign policy

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold says it's time for the FA to appoint an English coach for England.

Gold disagreed with the appointments of Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello, believing a manager should only be eligible to represent his own country.

Gold, whose club employ Israeli Avram Grant as manager, told TalkSport: "I want to see an England manager. I would love to see the law changed.

"I think the law ought to be that all managers throughout the world have to meet the same criteria the players meet.

"Then you would have an English manager. Most countries choose a manager from their own country. We seem to be bucking the trend all the time.

"It has caused us more grief. Every time we do it there is a furore. We are almost prostituting ourselves when we bring in a manager from another country."
