West Ham boss Moyes: More than ability needed by next Man Utd manager

West Ham boss David Moyes says managerial success at Manchester United goes beyond ability.

Moyes, reflecting on his time in charge at United, has outlined how difficult it is for any manager to live up to the expectation levels at Old Trafford. He has also explained why it is important for the club to rediscover the rhythm they had under Ferguson.

Moyes told The Athletic: "I keep hearing about Man United needing a top coach to make the difference. Man United have had Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal, who are two of the best coaches in the world — both excellent, both winners.

"One is an unbelievable coach, one a great winner. Man United have had a lot of top managers.

"[I'm] not putting myself in that category at all, but they've had some great managers. The difficulty for them now is to really find the same rhythm they found under Sir Alex, which when you look back now was incredible for their football club, it really was."
