West Ham United boss Alan Curbishley was disappointed with Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn's criticisms over their summer spending.
"When you come into the Premiership it is a different ball game altogether, especially for newly-promoted sides. It is very difficult to go about your business.
"We have not spent big sums. I have spent £22.5million in this window and brought in £21m.
"We have not been inflating the market or been over the top. We are quite happy with what we've done."
