West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce is backing Andy Carroll for an England recall.

Allardyce reckons he is getting back to his best and England boss Roy Hodgson must be taking note.

"He's smashed a few spectacular goals in before for us," Allardyce said.

"There is young emerging talent that might give Roy Hodgson a lot more alternatives - Andy included.

"There seems to be a lot of good young contenders for the England front positions which is pleasing."
