West Ham battling QPR for Everton striker Jelavic

West Ham United and QPR are battling for Everton striker Nikica Jelavic.

The Daily Star says both London clubs are short on firepower and see Croatian Jelavic, 28, as the answer.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has made it his January mission to sign a striker, having watched his side slide into the relegation zone while record signing Andy Carroll fights to shake off a heel injury he picked up seven months ago.

Meanwhile, QPR have struggled in the race for the Championship title, with strikers Andy Johnson, Bobby Zamora and Charlie Austin all out injured.
