West Bromwich Albion striker Shane Long is desperate to be part of the Republic of Ireland's Euros squad.

Long acknowledges that he must catch the eye at club level if he is to fulfil his ambition of playing a leading role for Ireland at Euro 2012.

"Obviously there is a long way to go until we get there next summer," he told Sky Sports News HD.

"It's going to be a hectic summer. The whole of Ireland is looking forward to it, not just us as players.

"I need to prove my worth here with West Brom until the end of the season and make sure my name is on the team sheet for Poland."
