West Brom skipper Greening doesn't regret leaving Man Utd

West Brom captain Jonathan Greening has no regrets quitting Manchester United.

Ahead of yesterday's 4-0 defeat at Old Trafford, midfielder Greening told the Guardian: "There are lots of players who are on a nice contract and happy to be in the squad and sit on the bench and picking up their salaries, but that's not for me.

"I think I played one game against Bradford in September [2000] at Old Trafford - we won 6-0 and I set two goals up and I didn't make another start in the league until January, so there was no chance of getting a run in the team.

"I had three years there and I never started two consecutive games."

Greening claims Sir Alex Ferguson has not made any effort to maintain a friendly relationship since he requested a move away.

"I've seen him in the tunnel a few times when we have played them and he's never said, 'Hi Johnno, how's things?' But that does not bother me.

"He might not have spotted me, although I'm a bit hard to miss with my long hair and beard!"
