West Brom skipper Fletcher in doubt for Scotland

Darren Fletcher fears he may miss Scotland's World Cup qualifier with Slovakia on Tuesday.

The Scots take on the Slovakians in Trnava following their disappointing 1-1 draw with Lithuania on Friday night and could now be without West Bromwich Albion captain Fletcher.

32-year-old Fletcher suffered a dead leg just before half-time in Glasgow and admits he is facing a race against time to prove his fitness for the trip to Eastern Europe.

"It feels pretty bad," Fletcher said.

"It's a dead leg quite high up. I struggled in the last 10 minutes of the first half and it seized right up when I stopped running at half-time.

"Sometimes you can be brave and go back out, but there was no point in me going out there and struggling in such a big game. It's disappointing to have to come off.

"It's too early to tell if I'll be ready for midweek. I'll have loads of ice on it, but dead legs are the worst in the first few days so we'll see how it goes."

Albion will be hoping the former Manchester United midfielder is fit for their Premier League home clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
