West Brom set to sign Chester from Hull

West Bromwich Albion are set to complete the signing of James Chester from Hull City.

Hull agreed an offer of around £8million from Albion this week and the defender has since been given permission to leave the Tigers' training camp in Austria.

Now Chester is set to undergo a medical at West Brom and the transfer is expected to be completed within the next 24 hours.

Confirming Chester's departure from Hull, Steve Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail: "We have agreed a fee for James Chester. He flew home last night and he's talking terms with West Brom today. We wish him the best of luck. It's inevitable when you get relegated. He has been a great servant for us since he joined from Manchester United.

"He's been a terrific player. We've lost Robbie (Brady) and now James and hopefully there'll be no more leaving. Everybody has their price and the fee for James is a good one and we wish him the best of luck."
