West Brom News: Arsenal scouting guru Rowley targeted; Francis confirms departure

Gerry Francis has decided to leave West Brom.

The 65-year-old had been offered the chance to stay on under new manager Alan Pardew following the sacking of Tony Pulis last month.

Former Tottenham and QPR manager Francis had worked with Pulis since 2008 and his time at Stoke, before following him to Crystal Palace and then the Baggies.

"It is with regret that I feel I cannot accept Alan Pardew's and West Brom's offer to stay on at the club due to moral obligations on my part," Francis told Sky Sports News.

"It has nothing to do with Alan or the club where I have spent three enjoyable years. I wish Alan and the club owners, chairman, directors, players and supporters every success in the future."

Meanwhile, West Brom want to add Arsenal's talent spotter Steve Rowley to help with recruitment, according to reports.

The Gunners have been negotiating Rowley's departure after bringing in Sven Mislintat as chief scout from Borussia Dortmund and although nothing has been confirmed, he is expected to leave his position at the Emirates soon.

Rowley, 58, predates Arsene Wenger's 1996 arrival at Arsenal and has been instrumental in helping to shape the club's transfer policy for several years.
