West Brom manager Pardew finds positives in Man Utd loss

Despite suffering a 2-1 defeat at home to Manchester United on Sunday, West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew believes his side can learn from the experience.

Pardew recently joined Albion as the club's manager, following a disastrous start to the season that sees the club second bottom of the Premier League. He is expected to lead a turnaround and keep the club in the Premier League by the end of the season.

"I learned some lessons today and I think the team learned some lessons today," he said.

"The only thing we can lean on is that we have 18 games to go, and we need to make sure that every game going forward now we're tough to beat.

"The second half was a lot better. Jay came on and linked the play. Suddenly Chris Brunt evens us up on the left hand side and we look a threat there with him and Kieran Gibbs.

"Barry came on and passed it forward, looked like he was trying to make something happen, and those little moment changed the complexion of the game."

West Brom fans will be happy with the resilience and spirit the side showed in the second half against United. While a comeback was not possible, they did score and had some chances to nab an equaliser. Pardew agreed with that assessment.

"We got a goal, could have had a penalty, and then had a couple of half chances towards the end," he continued.

"We're under no illusions as to where we are. These games that we're losing - we have to stop that, and the only way you're going to do that is by being really tough and hard every week.

"We've scored, thank goodness. We'll put that behind us and now let's go and see if we can get ourselves a win."

West Brom are now two points away from safety, and will need to start picking up wins very soon.
