West Brom keeper Kiely denies Redknapp grudge

West Brom goalkeeper Dean Kiely insists he has no grudge against Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp.

The former Republic of Ireland international was upset at the manner of his departure from the south coast club last season when England keeper David James was brought to the club during the summer by Redknapp.

But he said: "People who know me will know that bearing any grudge is a million miles away from what I'm like.

"I don't sit in a darkened room hatching some evil plan to get at my former employers. It's not a driving force and has no bearing on me whatsoever.

"I'll stand by what I said when I left. People make decisions. For me the way it came out was twisted and turned. I just like being told straightforward decisions. I just want it given to me - good or bad.

"I hope I bump into Harry Redknapp. If I do I will shake his hand. And David James is a cracking keeper doing very well.

"I haven't got a problem with managers making decisions. Football management is not the X-factor. It's not done on polls on who people should or shouldn't buy. What the manager says goes. Honestly, I haven't got a problem with that."
