West Bromwich Albion's Young Player of the Year James Hurst admits he was wrong to quit for Portsmouth.
The Baggies Academy product left to join Portsmouth in 2008 but returned to The Hawthorns on a free transfer in the summer and has not looked back since.
He has been a regular in the reserves all season and caught the eye as he made first-team debuts in the Carling Cup, Barclays Premier League and FA Cup, all during December and January.
And, after picking up his gong, he insisted he will not rest on his laurels as he aims to impress boss Roy Hodgson.
"I'm really happy to win the award - I didn't expect it," the 19-year-old told the WBA website.
"I think the Carling Cup was probably my best performance but getting my debuts in the other competitions was definitely enjoyable.
"This was always the place for me because of the way West Brom play.
"That's exactly how I want to play.
"The grass is not always greener on the side as they say, so I was happy to come back.
"I don't want to rest on my laurels, I want to push on and get in that squad full time.
"I'm happy that Roberto Di Matteo gave me the chance and I'll be looking to impress the new gaffer in pre-season."
