West Bromwich Albion football chief Dan Ashworth admits working with manager Roy Hodgson has been an eye opener.
With a contacts book longer than his CV, Hodgson is rapidly forming a blossoming partnership with the club's talent spotter.
"Roy is brilliant and his contacts are amazing," Ashworth told Birmingham Mail. "Reference checking is easy for him, he's got people in virtually every country. That's very useful for us.
"He is immensely experienced with players and games and he has his views on what needs to be done.
"Perhaps his attributes for the centre-half are different to Roberto's (Di Matteo) and Tony's (Mowbray).
"So, as a recruitment department, we need to take that on board. He knows what he wants in players and is great to work with.
"He's come to games with me, both here and abroad, and we spend a lot of time watching players on DVDs.
"He's just great to work with."
