West Brom boss Mowbray urges fans to look at big picture

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray insists there's plenty for fans to be positive about, despite their poor season so far.

He said: "It is all about opinion but I believe the club is on the upward spiral. Other people will look at the last 10 games and say we are on a downward spiral. But I look at a bigger picture. I see Wembley appearances, an FA Cup semi-final and 100 goals in a couple of seasons.

"I see positives unless you look at the last 10 games when you see only two draws and eight defeats. If you want to talk about one game I can talk about the disappointment of Sunderland last weekend and losing 4-0.

"If you want to talk about two or three games you can talk about some pretty good performances going back to Wigan away, the disappointment of an equalising goal from Peter Crouch at home against Portsmouth or the disappointment of the Blackburn game from the adversity of a 'dodgy penalty' early on to getting back to a winning situation only to concede an 89th minute penalty.

"We take the 4-0 defeat at Sunderland on the chin and now move on to the next game against Manchester City. I do not want to get sucked into the negativity of the Sunderland defeat.

"Unfortunately a lot of people do as you are only as good or bad as your last game. Let's hope that we can win 4-0 against Manchester City and we are brilliant again.

"The key for us is go out there and punch above our weight. We have an opportunity over the next 20 games to improve our fortunes.

"The future is pretty clear for me. It is mapped out. We have to pick up more points than we did in the last 10 games."
