"I first saw Marc two years ago but he was beyond Hibs' financial means," Mowbray told the WBA website. "I was looking at another player but Marc jumped out at me as a mobile, technically-gifted, centre-forward.
"I've seen him live twice and our own scouting system has watched him three or four times this year.
"All the reports have been positive. Then, when the opportunity came, here he is.
"We did try to bring him in during the summer window but it didn't quite happen."
