West Brom boss Hodgson wants shorter summer break

West Bromwich Albion wants the offseason to be cut short.

Hodgson had a Yuletide and New Year holiday when he was in charge of Inter Milan.

He said: "There's a need for a winter break.

"Once you get started in the middle of August, by the time January comes around everyone who works at a club starts to feel it's becoming a grind.

"Our summer break is too long. I don't know if two months is a good idea.

"That time might be better split up over the summer and winter. That would be my major plea.

"I've heard loads and loads of managers say it.

"In Italy, I found that a two or three-week break would freshen things up.

"Asking when the English summer is futile. I've lived here most of my life and I haven't a clue."
