West Brom boss Hodgson hails his strikers after Liverpool win

West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson hailed his strikers after victory at Liverpool.

Hodgson has hailed front duo Peter Odemwingie and Shane Long for defending from the front in Albion's historic 1-0 win at Liverpool.

The Baggies recorded their first victory at Anfield 45 years to the day since their last thanks to Odemwingie's 75th-minute strike - his 11th of the season.

"The defensive qualities of the side were very good - and not just the back-four," said the Hawthorns boss.

"I thought the midfielders worked were very good and the two front players didn't half work hard to get back in and do a good job for us.

"At 0-0 you always fear one of those chances is going to be converted and you're going to go home, perhaps with a narrow defeat.

"But we've been lucky to go home with a narrow victory."
