Manchester United Treble winner Wes Brown says Amad Diallo's future at Old Trafford will hinge on grabbing his chance when it's granted.

Currently on-loan at Sunderland in the Championship, Amad is making headlines on Wearside as he shows the form which convinced United to ferry him away from Atalanta last year.

Brown, a former Sunderland player, knows how difficult it can be to establish yourself at United and his advice for Amad is: when the chance comes, you must take it.

Speaking to Tribalfootball.com on behalf of Bet365, Brown said: "He's doing well. United is a difficult one to be honest. I've seen so many great young players at Man United as kids and they could get just two or three opportunities to shine. If you don't pull it off, you don't play again for a while.

"So, I just hope he's having a good experience at Sunderland. Obviously, it's a little bit different with United being in the Premier League. But it gives him that encouragement and that toughness when he comes back that when he does get a chance, can he produce when it counts?

"It's like (Alejandro) Garnacho. Can Amad show what he's about and score goals? That's all you can hope for really. Football's a tough game and there are so many quality players, when you grow up with them you think, 'he's going to be so good', but they don't actually make it in the Premier League and go lower."

Brown, who remains close to both clubs, has watched Amad's progress since his move from Atalanta and says he has all the tools to make it at United.

He added, "I really hope when he gets his opportunity, he shows everyone what he can do as he's quick, has great skill and has been scoring.

"You've got to respect your time at the loan club and take as much in as possible to take back to United. He'll get more opportunities to shine at Man United."
