Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger jumped to the defence of majority shareholder Stan Kroenke after victory over Everton.
Kroenke is under pressure from fans to sell up after rejecting a £1 billion takeover offer from Alisher Usmanov.
But Wenger defended him, insisting he is not responsible for what happens on the pitch.
“I respect Stan Kroenke a lot. He is not at fault if we did not reach the Champions League," Wenger said.
"It is the technical department who is responsible for that. I don't see what he has to do with that."
Despite the opposition, it's claimed Kroenke remains committed to the Gunners and will not sell at any price.
