Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was pleased with the performances of his make-shift centre-back pairing in the 4-0 FA Cup win over Hull City on Tuesday night.
The Gunners lost Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista to injuries during the game but the duo of Nacho Monreal and Calum Chambers stepped up to play in the centre of defence and performed admirably in the convincing win.
Following the game, Wenger said: "We lost two centre backs in the game and when you play away from home that is not easy to cope with.
"We did quite well because Monreal came on as a centre back where he has played a few times last year and Chambers was moved in. I thought they coped well."
