Wenger feels Arsenal back in premiership contention

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes his team is back within a title chance following a brilliant run in the league recently.

The Gunners are still sitting seventh but have won six of their last eight outings and are looking much better than they did in late August and part of September.

Wenger says that the North Londoners are now within striking distance of the top four and ahead of the trip to Wigan Athletic tomorrow, the Frenchman was very positive for the immediate future.

"After a bad start, we are back in contention to fight for the championship places," he told Sky Sports News.

"Not at the moment for the championship but the target is to get back into that position so we have to continue our good run we have at the moment.

"We had a disappointing draw last week (1-1 with Fulham ) and we want of course to come back and continue our run.

"For the rest it looks like there is a group of seven/eight teams who will fight until the end for the championship with Man City at the moment super favourite but it's early in the season."
