Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is convinced Manchester City defender Micah Richards could be a long-term solution.

The People says Wenger could snap up Richards for a bargain £6million.

The 20-year-old is available on the cheap after falling out of favour with boss Mark Hughes. And Arsenal chief Wenger, a long-time admirer of the 11-cap star, is ready to take advantage.

Wenger is open to offers for William Gallas, Mikael Silvestre is the wrong side of 30 and Johan Djourou is yet to convince the Frenchman he is fully up to the job.

Richards, a boyhood Arsenal fan, has proved he can cut it at the highest level, providing he has the right support around him.
