Wellington Phoenix owner reveals $2.5m loss

Wellington Phoenix owner Terry Serepisos has revealed he has taken a loss of about $2.5million since the club was founded.

The Phoenix entered the A-League two seasons ago and Serepisos has lost out in both seasons to date but it has not deterred him as he plans to continue to pump money into the club.

"I'm definitely putting a lot of money into it but it's not all about the money," the Wellington property investor said.

"Nobody wants to lose money but we're certainly not in it to make money. No club is making any money, not even Melbourne Victory."

"I've had a lot of people tell me I'm crazy, you're losing money, you've done enough, but life's far too short not to be able to do something special like this.

"After seeing what I saw at the weekend (Phoenix fan day that attracted 3,000 people), all that goes out the door."
