Danny Welbeck says Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney is chomping at the bit to get involved with England.

Rooney must sit out Friday's game with Sweden before finally getting his Euros chance against Ukraine.

Welbeck said: "We all know the passion Wayne has for football.

"He's itching to get out on the pitch. It will be better for us once his suspension is done and he can come in and play for us against Ukraine."

Welbeck also shed some light on Rooney's and Ashley Cole's new haircuts, which have caught the attention - and imagination - of the English media.

"The barber came in (to the hotel) and set up his own little barber shop," said Welbeck, failing to suppress a smile.

"Quite a few members of staff and players participated in it."
