Weghorst: Arsenal, Spurs rejection led to Man Utd move

Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst says he's had past opportunities to join major Premier League clubs.

Weghorst joined United this month on-loan from Burnley.

He said, "Two seasons ago there was serious interest from Arsenal and Tottenham. It was concrete, but in the end it didn't go through.

"When it didn't come to anything, I set myself new goals. I took a good look at myself and assessed where I needed to improve physically and mentally.

"I made a plan for it together with a specialist. It dawned on me that I wasn't scoring enough goals with my head, so I started working on my technique with a coach three times a week.

"It clearly had an effect. Now I really have confidence. If a good ball comes, I pan it in. I am proud of that, because it is the result of focus and hard work."
