Watford coach Cleverley reveals Sir Alex in touch

Former Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has revealed Sir Alex Ferguson is in touch about his coaching.

Having retired this year, Cleverly is working inside the Watford academy.

He revealed to the Manchester Evening News: "It shows the class that he has.

"He was just checking up on me at first and then offering me advice, from a coaching perspective on a couple of things, which I think is how I like to coach, I don't like to overwhelm people with information but he gave me a couple of punchy tips. I try and implement them on a daily basis."

Cleverley added, "The long, long-term goal would be to be a Premier League manager and I understand that doesn't just happen overnight, and there's a lot of work that needs putting into it, but I think the work ethic I have and the career as a player, and the experiences that have come with that, I'm in a decent position.

"Short-term, I'm loving what I do, I'm learning every day and I'm passionate about improving these young players."
