Ikechi Anya believes Scotland are capable of qualifying for Euro2016 as group winners.
The Scots currently sit third in Group D behind Poland and Germany as they strive to end a major tournament drought by booking their spot in France next summer.
Upon being awarded the Scottish Football Writers Association International Player of the Year, Watford winger Anya feels Gordon Strachan has the quality at his disposal to not only qualify, but to finish on top of their six-team group.
"Why limit ourselves to play-offs for France now when that's not necessarily the scenario? I'd be all right with finishing first. If we are successful - we will finish first," he said.
"One of the keys to our success is that we might not have the most quality as individuals when you compare us to Germany, but when you add in our unit I think we can compete with the best."
