VVV Venlo sports chief Luc Nilis has revealed he's still in contact with Tottenham midfielder Steven Bergwijn.

The pair worked together at PSV Eindhoven.

Nilis revealed to Eindhovens Dagblad: "What I liked was that Steven recently sent me a message when he left for Tottenham Hotspur.

"Something like that does a lot to me. It is a form of gratitude that gives me pleasure in what I do and also the strength to go further.

"If young players have talent and the willingness to want to learn something, you can also teach them something and often also the details that determine if they really break through."
