Johann Vogel is delighted with his contract at Blackburn Rovers.

The Swiss midfielder signed a two-and-a-half year deal yesterday and told Blackburn's website: "I've trained more than two weeks with the squad and I think I have to practice a little bit more.

"That is normal after ten months without playing, but if I am given my chance to play then I will do my best.

"If the manager thinks I'm ready then I'll be happy as ten months is a long time. If he wants me to play this season I'll grab my chance."

However, Vogel is confident of making an impression in England after a high-profile career across several leading leagues in Europe.

"I played many years in the Netherlands, in Serie A and the Primera Liga in Spain and now for me it is a great opportunity for me to play in the Premier League," he added.

"It has always been an objective of mine to play in England. I can't wait to get started and I hope I will enjoy this time."
