Craig Gardner is backing Aston Villa winger James Milner to make a big impact this season.

The midfielder said of the former Newcastle United star: "I think he is worth every single penny of the transfer fee. He has not come for the money to sit on the bench and be willing to do 'just' enough - he wants to give 110 per cent and he is never happy unless he has the man-of-the-match award and has scored a hat-trick.

"He keeps himself to himself but he is a good lad as well."
