Villas-Boas faith has Tottenham's Defoe wanting more

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe admits he is keen to repay the faith shown in him by Andre Villas-Boas.

The England international is again a regular at White Hart Lane with 16 Premier League appearances so far this season which has yielded nine goals following the arrival of Villas-Boas in the summer.

Defoe has thanked the Portuguese tactician for trusting him with plenty of game time and is hoping to score more goals for his beloved Spurs.

"The new manager has come in and he has shown great faith in me," said Defoe.

"He said to me from the beginning, 'I want you to stay at the club, I know you will score goals'. It has been fantastic. I have got my chances, I have scored goals.

"I just want to keep it going, keep scoring more goals and help the team achieve something this year."
