Villarreal striker Gerard Moreno admits hopes of buying Badalona: A sleeping monster

Villarreal striker Gerard Moreno has admitted interest in buying FC Badalona.

However, the Spain international says it's only possible if he secures backing from financial partners.

Moreno said today: "I can only join this project with the help of several partners and, of course, respecting the current board and the conversion process.

"A meeting had been scheduled for Wednesday, December 22, which for reasons beyond our control was suspended."

Moreno, who describes Badalona as a "sleeping monster" that "sooner or later, with the help of one project or another will consolidate itself as a large and recognised club", summed up "what would have been some of the general lines of our project":

- Promote academy work, focused on the personal, cultural and educational aspect of boys and girls.

- Maintain and strengthen relationships with entities, clubs, sections and estates of the city to make them participate in the project.

- Involve everyone who joins the project. Badalona is and will be of its people and the support of those who have experience and knowledge is essential.

- Support the work of the first team and avoid short-term and unfounded 'promises'.

And he ended by highlighting that "our desire was to acquire the majority of the shareholding package with a capital increase as soon as possible (...) and we were willing to have anyone who wanted to join this project" in any facet.
